A look at the plot of Fake Profile season 2

The show’s narrative in season 2 picks up almost two years after the events of season 1. Angela has been released early from prison, merely 18 months after she was jailed for killing her father. Camila is getting married to David while still having dreams, or rather nightmares, about Miguel. And, in all of this, a killer is on the loose!

Using Camila’s Tinder profile with the name ‘Red Velvet’, her stage name, this mysterious killer starts inviting men out on dates and then proceeds to kill them.

The rest of the plot is spent with detective Indira trying to uncover the identity of the killer while people close to Camila, David, Miguel and Angela keep getting murdered.

So now that we have recapped season 1 and know the plot of this season, let’s take a look at the ending of Fake Profile season 2.

Well, if you hadn’t guessed already in the first two episodes, Angela Ferrer is the killer. After getting out of prison, she was mad with revenge.

At first, she killed Jesus Franco by luring him out on a date and killing him. The police found his body in the bathtub. Then the killings of Adrian, Angela’s brother and Cristobal (Adrian’s ex-fiancé) happened. All three men died of heart attacks. And bodies were found either in a bathtub or washed up in swimming pools wiping much of the evidence from them. Therefore, at this point, it also became difficult for detective Indira to find a commonality between the murders other than the Tinder profile.

After suspecting Inti, the ex-escort who fell in love with Angela in season 1,behind the murders, detective Indira concluded that the killer was only going after unfaithful men. But then, that hypothesis failed as well when Camila’s friend Erika was murdered.

So, what was Angela’s motive?

In the last episode, it is revealed that during her time in prison, Angela met Dr Joaquin Duval, her therapist. As their sessions together progressed, Angela shared her feelings with Duval, who, in turn, encouraged her to seek revenge. As she expressed to him her hatred of unfaithful men because of her husband’s infidelity, Duval proposed an experiment he wanted to study sexually unfulfilled men in committed relationships (who made him a doctor?!).

Together, they plotted everything. In fact, the first murder happened when Duval got Angela out of prison on medical leave. But why did Angela kill her brother Adrian next?

Well, Adrian found out what Angela and Duval were up to, leading Duval to kill him. Erika was murdered because she was close to Camila. Angela also murdered Tina, her father’s associate, because she found out her father had had an affair with Tina’s mother and couldn’t accept that.

Throughout the series, we see Miguel, the adulterer, stalking Camila. Even after she repeatedly tells him to leave her alone and that she’s married, he doesn’t take the hint. Camila is also in therapy after everything that transpired in the first season. She also confides about her dreams about Miguel with her therapist.

As the show progresses, Camila decides to get back together with Miguel, which doesn’t really set a great standard after he repeatedly violated her consent and stalked her.

In the last episode, David gets her to sign the divorce papers. In the finale, it is revealed that Camila’s therapist is also Angela’s counsellor Dr Duval! He has been secretly recording Camila over the course of their sessions; obsessed with her.

After detective Indira arrests Duval, they find out that he has been secretly recording all his patients for over 10 years. As the episode progresses, Duval manages to kidnap Camila from Angela’s house and takes her on a yacht after getting out on bail. Then, he confesses to her about his and Angela’s relationship — how they became “best friends, confidants and lovers.” He also confesses his identity as ‘Red Velvet’ and to killing Adrian after he found out about him and Angela; but also, because he didn’t want to share her with her brother (please make it make sense).

During this conversation, Miguel manages to get on the yacht and tackles Duval. They both get into a brawl when detective Indira shoots Duval from a speedboat. Camila and Miguel embrace, suggesting they are finally together, and nothing would separate them now.

How does Angela escape?

In the last episode, Angela, along with her neighbour Vanessa, attempts to dispose of the latter’s husband, Santiago’s body. Vanessa had shot Santiago after he tried to assault Angela after finding her and his wife in a compromising position. It also fulfilled Angela’s revenge as she wanted to punish him for wanting her to leave the company to please the shareholders.

Both the women, dissolve his body in a chemical solution before sailing away to a foreign country.
